Christie began sewing in 1971 at just six years old, crafting toys before quickly advancing to clothing; determined to trade hand-me-downs from her older sisters for handmade creations of her own.

Taught by her mother, she learned not just how to sew, but how to sew well, holding every stitch to the highest standard of “hand-done” excellence. Over the decades, her passion has taken her from teaching friends to sew formal dresses at boarding school in Switzerland, to working on intricate theatrical costumes, lead-lined medical gear, and even stage props for P!nk’s European “Funhouse” tour.

After years of professional sewing work across industries, Christie opened Spotted Dog Sewing in Gillette, Wyoming; named for her two loyal Dalmatians, Happy and Tilly. With the power of an industrial sewing machine and over 50 years of experience, she now provides commercial and custom sewing services no one else in the area offers.

Her dream is to grow Spotted Dog into a full-scale boutique offering pre-made and bespoke items, while continuing to train others in the skilled labor she’s spent a lifetime mastering.
